Today, I was normally scrolling through my personal Facebook wall and that’s when I came across a lot of ads that businesses from various sectors were promoting on the same social media platform. Being from a digital media background, Facebook statistics, engagement on Instagram, interactions on Twitter, followers on LinkedIn, all these things have now become my day in and day out conversations with my colleagues and peers.
However, when I was going through those ads on Facebook, something strike my mind. Are we, as a business and for business, utilising or using digital marketing platforms to their fullest? I realised, the answer is a big NO!
I’ve spend major part of my professional life in and around digital marketing. Hence, I can say how exactly each platform is different from the other when it comes to promoting the business online. Let me explain you in brief about the same:
- FACEBOOK:
Thanks to the new logistics by Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook has now created a limit on the reach for business relates promotions, for the want to focus on the main reason it was created for – socialising. Here, targeting your exact set of audience is extremely important. You may see a feature where in INR 65 or less, you can get a reach of around 10,000 people. But those 10,000 people won’t be the audience you’re looking for.
Hence, make a small but effective promotional use of Facebook by targeting the right audience.
- INSTAGRAM:
Now on Instagram, most of us are either trying to be the next social media influencer or wondering how we can gain more followers organically. One rule that I’ve observed about Instagram – you can easily detect if your followers are organic or not. How? The likes on each picture should be 10% or more of the followers of any account. For example, if an account has 50k followers, the likes on each post should be atlas 4-5k. If not, they’re paid or bought followers.
Make sure the amount of followers you have are organic and genuinely interested in your business. The more you buy followers, more are the chances for you to divert from your TG.
- TWITTER:
One thing that I have observed about Twitter is, it is more of a customer oriented platform and less of a sales or marketing. If asked where customers take their grievances, complaints or reviews to, it has to be Twitter.
Customers are extremely active on Twitter. Their one tweet can decide your company’s one review. Faster the response for a customer’s query, better will be the reviews.
Utilising social media platforms for digital marketing is not just uploading posts every day, but strategising them as per the platforms.
